The holidays are coming

As we turn the corner from Halloween and All Saints day, we move quickly to Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas, and then a new year begins.

Add into that an election cycle that has created a more us vs. them mentality than I can ever remember, and it can seem a bit overwhelming.  Without exception, though, the clock will keep ticking and before long we will be experiencing another summer experience.

Until that happens, we are called to continue on as servants of others as Jesus showed us.  To be people who love God with all of our hearts, minds, souls, and strength.  And to love our neighbors…(yes and even the ones who voted differently than we did)…as we do ourselves.

The holidays can be a great way to put things into perspective.  We give thanks, and we remember, once again, the promise that is given to us.  “For unto us a child is born” comes into our lives once again, and we seek the promises of the season.  Hope. Peace. Joy. Love.

I don’t know about you, but after the past months, I need those things.

Nativity Displays!

This year, I am going to set up a Nativity set that Nancy and I got 35 years ago on a table in the Narthex.  It will have a story with it.  There will also be one that was shared by Mike and Maggie Fliniau.  I am going to invite you to bring a nativity scene to display, along with a story of how you received it or why it is special to you.  There is a risk of things going missing or being damaged, so be aware of that possibility when sharing your nativity.

We’ll start with one table.  Wouldn’t’t it be great if we had to add more?

Decorating for the Holidays!

Your help is needed to decorate our building for Advent/Christmas!  We need your help on Monday, November 21 from 9 am until ?   Thanks for helping!  It takes a long time if only a few help, but takes a little time if there are many!
