When one suffers, we all suffer

The apostle Paul eloquently talks about the Body of Christ, how we all have gifts and that we are each an essential part of the Body, whether we be a foot or a hand!  In other words, we are bound as followers of Christ, one to one another.  More than that, as he reminds us:
If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.  -1 Corinthians 12:26

We all know that this pandemic has greatly challenged being church, in worship and fellowship, study and mission.  This has been harder on some than others.  And yet, we know that when one suffers, we all suffer.

This Saturday, you have an opportunity to gather with other Disciples at this year’s Disciples of Christ Leadership Council on the Lake of the Ozarks as we think about what it means to be community during COVID-19.  We will have a discussion over Zoom where we will learn from other churches, share in our solidarity, and discover new ways to be the church.  I hope you will join us!

Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Ron

Thanks!
A small choir from Lake Ozark Christian Church recorded “One Bread, One Body” for use in the Disciples Leadership Council.  Thank you for your musical gifts!

Worship
This Sunday, February 7, 2021, a leper comes to Jesus, “If you choose, you can make me clean.”  As we know, of course Jesus heals him!  How could he not?  As followers of Christ, shouldn’t we do the same?  “I Do Choose,” Mark 1:40-45.  Come join us!

Last Week’s Sermon
Missed the service from last week?  On January 31, 2021, Pastor Ron preached on the Mark 1:29-39, “The Message Must Be Proclaimed.”  After teaching, Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law and then many others.  After a time of rest and prayer, Jesus returns with a mandate and a mission, to share the message of God’s love, because the Good News must be proclaimed!

Book and Bible Study
Please join us for a study of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s The Cost of Discipleship.  The class will double as a bible study as we journey through various passages from the Gospel with emphasis on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).  The class will meet Tuesdays at 1:30pm in the Multipurpose Room and will last about an hour each session.

This Tuesday, we will be discussing chapters 3-5, pages 79-101, and we will look at the following passages from Scripture: Matthew 19:23-26, Mark 8:31-38, Luke 14:25-33, and Mark 10:28-34.

There is a sign up to purchase the book for $11, or you can let the church office know.  You can also order the book directly from Amazon.  We hope you will join us!

Grief Support Group
Recently lose someone you love?  Still feel like you are stuck in grief?  Or maybe it’s been awhile but you still feel the shadow of loss?  Or maybe you’ve walked that road and might be able to help another who feels lost?  Whatever the reason, you are invited to journey with others, to share your burden, and find support.  We will be using the DVD series Grief Matters, Learning to Cope with Loss by Dr. Bill Webster.  Support materials will be provided to help.  We meet on Wednesdays at 6 pm in the multipurpose room.
