Jesus craves relationship

He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village; and when he had put saliva on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Can you see anything?” And the man looked up and said, “I can see people, but they look like trees, walking.” Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he looked intently and his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
-Mark 8:23-25

This passage always makes me wonder.  Why did it take Jesus two times to heal this man?  Was it a two step-process?  One would think that the Son of the Living God who had just multiplied the loaves in the feeding of the five thousand, done numerous exorcisms and healings, would have been able to heal the man of his blindness in one take!

But let us remember that Jesus craves relationship.  He needed the man’s cooperation and input to give him the healing he needed.

We need to remember that Jesus needs our input as well, to continue to pray and strengthen our relationship with our Lord, if we are to receive the healing we need.

Blessings and Peace,

Worship
On this first Sunday of Lent, Pastor Ron will preach on Psalm 25, “A Journey with God.”  In our daily lives, we must learn to trust in the Lord, from our struggles to our greatest joy, to knowing we are forgiven and loved.

As we continue our Lenten journey, this Sunday, February 28, 2021, Pastor Ron will preach on Mark 8:31-38, “The Way to Life.”  Jesus reminds us that he is headed towards the cross, which is too much for Peter, who cannot believe his Lord must suffer and die.  And yet, Jesus turns to all who would be his disciples and invites us on an incredible journey of discipleship and life.
