Watch Us Grow
Our Foundation
On January 11, 1942, 28 people met with Rev. A.L. Alexander, the minister of Eldon Christian Church, who advised them on organizing a church. Later that month, seven acres of land was purchased by the group, and a small frame school building in Lakeside was purchased from Union Electric Company for $135. The building was moved across Bagnell Dam and reconstructed on the newly-acquired property.
When we outgrew the old school house in 1954, we built our beautiful sanctuary that we now enjoy along with the administrative wing and parsonage. When the Narthex gathering area became too cramped for fellowship functions and the existing classrooms overflowed, we expanded with our kitchen, fellowship hall, restrooms, nursery and children's classroom. We grew again in 1995 when we added our Chapel in the Woods so we could worship God and enjoy his handy work of the Ozark outdoors during the summer season. We expanded again in 2001 when our youth ministry grew to the point that we needed more classrooms, play areas and gathering space. Lake Ozark Christian Church is thriving with new ministry plans and goals, new leadership, direction and energy.
