Search Committee

Here’s the latest from the search committee.

Previous Updates

July 2, 2020:

The Search Committee believes we have found the person God intends to be the next pastor of Lake Ozark Christian Church.  He is a man of deep convictions, a warm personality and significant experience who will be recommended to the Leadership Council at their next meeting.  Pending their approval, he will be invited to preach at our church followed by a Special Congregational Meeting and vote (tentatively August 2).  Details will be sent to you by mail, email, and the Chimes.  We appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us and we’re thankful for your input and prayers throughout this process.

June 18, 2020:

Since March the committee has reviewed a significant number of viable Ministerial Profiles.  In April and May the committee held several telephone interviews and one in-person interview with its top candidates.  Unfortunately, the interviews to date have not resulted in a “call”.  The committee has seen profiles of some very gifted candidates and is hopeful that one of them will turn out to be the person God intends to join LOCC in ministry.  Your continued prayers are sincerely appreciated.

April 8, 2020:

Despite being isolated from one another, your Search Committee has been hard at work.  In March we reviewed all the Ministerial Profiles sent by our regional minister, Rev. Dr. Paul Koch.  There were many with extraordinary gifts for ministry among them.  We have contacted our top choices and will be conducting phone interviews with each of them the week of April 13-17.  Please continue your prayers for the Search Committee. Sandy Wolfgang offered this prayer:

Lord be with the search committee as they seek the right person to lead LOCC into the future. Prepare this person and their heart to be the best person for us to help us grow in knowledge of you, develop as a community of faith and effective followers of Jesus Christ.”  AMEN.

The Search Committee has completed our 10-page Congregational Profile and a cover letter.  Our opening is listed on the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Mid-America website and on the official Disciples private search website.  Several candidates have already expressed an interest.

If someone comes to your attention that you believe would be an excellent candidate, please refer them to our regional minister:
