A Pastor’s Perspective

Our capital campaign continues for two more weeks as we continue to provide funds for our building payments and to reduce our debt.  I have been asking the question, “Can you imagine our church being debt free?”  and the follow up question is, logically, “What could we do to impact our community and our world if we didn’t have a mortgage payment of a little over $14,000 each month?”  Our Treasurer, Matt Redd, reported earlier this week that we have already received gifts and pledges totaling $249.000 of our goal of $600,000!

As we enter into the final two weeks of our campaign, there are things we can all do!  We can pray for the success of the campaign.  We can contribute!  And we can dream of a day when we have no debt from our current mortgage!  Can you imagine that day?

I am so thankful for the faithful giving of this congregation!  As we move forward into our future as a church family, it will take all of us to help LOCC reach its goal and its calling….to proclaim the Gospel message of hope to the world!

Make plans now to attend our Celebration Sunday lunch after our 10:30 am service on July 15th!  We will have lunch, count all the gifts and pledges for our capital campaign and celebrate!

As you probably know, we will have to say goodbye to Kristin, Dan, Caitlin, and Clarissa Chisham as they begin a new adventure in their lives near Wichita, Kansas.  While we are saddened by the news, we are excited for their new future endeavors.  Their last day with us will be Sunday, July 29th.  Let’s pack the house on that day to show our appreciation!

A great big thank you to all the folks who made this year’s VBS a big success.!  We had a blast with our theme, “Shipwrecked! Rescued by Jesus!
