Gone for Good
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far he removes our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion for his children,
so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him.
Ben wants a camera, and the boy has expensive tastes. The poor guy, his birthday and Christmas gifts often get combined in order to accommodate my pocketbook, but I’m happy to see his interest. At his last school, he took most of the pictures for the school yearbook.
Thinking of cameras made me think of my own limited photography skills. I’m grateful for digital cameras because I have to take 3-4 shots before I get one that’s even marginally acceptable. In the old days, this would eat up your film, but nowadays you just delete the ones you don’t want. The camera always asks, “Do you really want to delete those photos?” Yes. I do!
That always makes me think of the forgiveness of the Lord. The grace of our God completely erases our sins. How often do we relive the mistakes of our past? And even when we say we forgive, when trouble arises again or the same mistake is made, it all comes back. But not so with God. When the Lord forgives, it’s gone for good. Praise God!
Blessings and Peace,
